Quaife
Quaife are leaders in competition differentials & gearboxes. Race developed on European Race Tracks, Quaife has earned numerous awards for its quality product range.

They have an extensive catalogue, which features differentials for most car manufactures. From a small family concern it has now expanded to a company with 50 employees, with Sharon and Michael Quaife (sister and brother) now driving the Company forward, after Rod Quaife passed away.

Quaife is now proud of its reputation as a World leader in the manufacture of driveline components and is the only manufacture to specialise in both motorcycle and car transmissions.

Motorcycle gearbox development started the company on the road to competition development, of racing motorcycle gearboxes and led to numerous world champions using Quaife gearboxes.

BSA, Triumph, Norton and Yamaha motorcycles all benefited from Quaife's expertise in developing gearboxes from 5 to 6 speeds. With the decline of the British bike industry in the early 1970's, Quaife turned its expertise to cars and began a long and pro-active service to the motor industry.

40 yearslater and a wealth of racing experience, the continuous development of new products through Quaife's own competition vehicles, led the company to create their own show piece.

What is unusual about Quaife is its ability to offer its customers an integrated design, manufacture and assembly service. It has an in-house design team, which is experienced in stripping down, analysing and re-designing existing gearboxes.

With the opening of the new 'pattern making' department, clients can bring a sample and redesign their existing products and within a few days see the results. All machining of components is carried out in-house, with strength and durability being the ultimatum to accommodate the demands of today's fast road and race applications. Technology within the factory is continuously being updated with the latest CNC equipment.

All Quaife products are designed to add the strength and durability demanded by today's motorsport and commercial vehicle industry. The company continually improves and develops an unrivalled range of driveline products. Although continuous development is at the forefront of the company, many of the products have remained popular over the years and will continue to be manufactured so long as the need is there. The Company believes that these longstanding products are a tribute to the quality of their workmanship

Quaife believe that the key to enhancing the performance of your vehicle is through the transmission system. Using a close ratio gearbox is guaranteed to optimise engine performance and the fitting of the Patented Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing Differential (ATB) has the potential to transform both handling and power delivery to the highest advantage.

Several major manufacturers have homologated Quaife designed gearboxes and ATB differentials for use in competition cars as well as listing Quaife products in their accessories.

Ford Motor Company, the latest company to fit the Quaife ATB differential as standard to their new RS Focus. Quaife also serves the commercial vehicle sector, where clients are benefiting from specialist knowledge in the design and production of components able to withstand the high stresses experienced in racing car transmission systems. Transco (formerly British Gas) are the largest users of the Quaife Power Take Off unit that has served them for the past six years. Enabling them to have on board power where ever they require it.

The Internet has opened many new doors with over 600,000 hits to the site each month. Exports continue to grow each year and now over 75% of the companies products are exported of which 55% are direct exports to destinations including Japan, the US and South Africa.

Situated at Westbank Raceway in Germiston (JHB) and just 20 minutes from the famous Kyalami race circuit, Quaife welcome visitors at any time.
